Out of Stock - Referred to your competetion

Good day

I just searched online for a cricket bat(SKU: ********** 034012), found one online, but none at the Mossel Bay or George branches, so I phoned the call centre.

I spoke to a gentleman by the name of Lestor Kannigadu. He informed me that there were only 3 stores in the Western Cape (N1 City, Paarl and Tygervalley) that had stock. He told me that I wouldn't be able to order 1 online, and that he never knew when or if the stores in George or Mossel Bay would ever get stock. I asked him if he could find out from a buyer or someone that deals with the store order process. His answer was no and suggested that I buy from some other retailer like Totalsports. I actually asked him if they were part of Mr Price and he said no.

I am quite shocked that someone working for a company would rather not go to a bit of effort to enquire about stock, but rather refer me to the competitor. I wonder if this is happening with other products and with other call centre agents.
