Mr. Price Sport Tygervalley sucks. Worst customer service ever.
To whom it may concern,
Today, I visited your Tygervalley Mr Price Sport branch. I had to purchase 14 running shirts for a corporate team. I managed to find a few garments on the floor and proceeded to the check-out to ask them to simply check if they had another x5 medium garments in stock. I’ll take the rest step by step –
Firstly, your cashier, Danielle, checked the system and advised me of all the other branches that have a five mediums for me in stock. When I peered down at the screen, it also stated that the very branch that I was at, Tygervalley, had 6 in stock. When I asked that they check in the back, as I needed the garments today, another women, who seemed like the manager of sorts, stepped in. “Politely” roller her eyes at me, to inform me that they had 250 boxes at the back that still needed to be unpacked. And that’s going to take a week.
So obviously, I asked that they check the box against the barcode of the garment and help me locate the mediums that I would like to purchase. I would simply like to be, a paying customer. After all, I purchased the rest of the items at that store. It’s an honest request that I’ve never been refused at any other retailer. It’s standard.
Alas, no. I was advised, those 250 boxes would take another week to unpack. That there is NO way for them to check the box and that she was not going to go through 250 boxes just for 4 shirts. (How dare I request this??)
Right, so in the way it was explained to me, I was clearly being made to understand that finding these items would mean opening and searching through 250 boxes and thousands of items, and scanning all these items – would take a week.
Your cashier, Danielle, “kindly” phoned Canal Walk to ask them if they indeed had the items in stock (and not in boxes at the back) so that I could drive there to purchase these items. According to Danielle, the staff checked the floor and they found 5 mediums for me and that they were keeping it aside for me.
So, I purchase everything I could at the Tygervalley store and drive to Canal Walk to purchase the rest. Cause apparently, me driving to CANAL WALK, another store in another centre, 30mins away, is less of hassle for your staff, than for them to actually take the time to assist a PAYING CUSTOMER.
But imagine my surprise to hear, after driving all the way from Tygervalley, to Canal Walk, to pick up the items that your Canal Walk staff did not have the items on the store floor. Your Canal Walk employee, Denver, asked Danielle from tygervalley to hold, took the time to get the barcode, check the inventory list and find the box with the items that I needed. It took him 10minues. It was not on the floor. It was in 1 box, in between the 650 boxes that Canal Walk had at the back, and IT TOOK HIM 10 MINUTES TO FIND IT FOR ME.
Cudos to Denver, I told him that I would send this email and give him a shout out. Well done. No rocket science and no trolling through 650 boxes, just some simple common sense.
To your staff at your Tygervalley branch that rolled their eyes at me, that made me feel, unwelcome, like a hassle, like an awful person for simply asking you to ‘check at the back’ to enable me to purchase the items that you HAD IN STOCK. You shouldn’t be in retail. You’re customer service SUCKS and I will NEVER visit your store again. Shame on you.
Thanks Denver. You’re Mr. Price Sport’s saving grace for the day, otherwise NONE of your stores would have ever seen me again as a customer.
Please take all of the above as my reason for laying a complaint of pathetic customer service against your Tygervalley branch. It would serve management well to pop over to Tygervalley to experience the lack of service, the untidy store, RUDE STAFF and good luck finding someone on the floor to actually help you. They’ll send you to Canal Walk (or any other branch really), but hey, I had to make the time, surely you should too.
