COMPLAINT - Mr. Price Sport Online shopping is an absolute JOKE!

To The Managing Director of Mr. Price Sport,

Order Id: *** Order status: SHIPPED Payment status: true Payment method: creditcard(349.98) Order amount: R 349.98 Shipping: Economy

Here are the facts:

I placed and paid for this small online order for my wife on 6th January 2021. On 7th January she received an email notification to say that the items had been shipped. The guaranteed delivery date was 14th January, which came and went, so today on the 15th January I tried to find out what had happened to my order.

First I tried to see if I could track the order online - No luck - basically the non inter-active tracking system was still showing the status of the order as 'shipped'. So; I went to the next level and tried to call the helpline from the number on the website. After going through the options I eventually got an answer from a lady who said 'please hold on' and then put the phone down and chatted (laughed & yelled) to her colleagues .... after 5 minutes of being ignored; whilst periodically asking if anyone was there; I had to hang up .... I wonder if this was a shared cost call ?? - basically ANOTHER online help call centre financial rip-off tactic that did not work!

So I moved on to the next option - using the Mr. Price what's App help feature - here's how it went: After following the options at 13.44 I got the message: "Connecting you to a customer experience super hero!" After 10 minutes of waiting for this super-powered-person to respond I wrote the following: " ok so i've been waiting for 10 minutes now for one of the "super hero's" to actually chat to me ..... so it seems that the Mr. Price what's app customer service doesn't work either. After 2 more messages from me and waiting for the super hero to respond - which took 46 MINUTES for them to do!! - I finally got an answer which was: " Hi, you are through to Charnee, how can I help you?" .... clearly none of what I had written to the agent had been read by her. At 14.46 (almost an HOUR LATER) the super hero then came out with the standard Golden Brush-Off answer :" Unfortunately we are not able to track any orders at the moment as our systems are currently down." Go Figure! Thanks for wasting my time with the "Whats App Help Function" Mr. Price!! Please let me know who I should send MY bill to for MY time?

Determined to find my wife's R 349.98 purchase (sic) I then tried help option 3 - to find the name of the courier who is supposed to be delivering the parcel that has been shipped. To get hold of them I had to call a number in Durban! After going through the options I finally get through to the telephone receptionist who took my cell number and the order number and then told me that she'd get their agent in Cape Town to call me.... another deadend!

Clearly Mr. Price Sport has only one thing in mind with their online sales platform - to get the customers' to pay them immediately for goods they do not have the will or ability to deliver! I will have no hesitation in telling as many people as possible that they can add Mr. Price Online Sports to the heap of other South African online rip-off artists who have absolutely no concern for their customers.

Please feel free to keep the R349.98 - if you're that desperate for revenue. I feel it my civic duty to try and help the down-and-outs who seem to be resorting to the lowest of tactics to survive these days. Let's hope that your share holders will maintain their confidence in your stock when they get to read about how you treat your customers.

Sincerely

Allan Carson - ANOTHER dis-satisfied online customer

I'm very happy to be able to report back with some GOOD NEWS on the outcome from my complaint about the service that I received from Mr. Price Sport online sales platform.

The Gumpian's were right - "**** does happen" - to all of us - and the true measure of validity of a company is not just how well it handles its day to day business, but rather how it reacts when things go wrong. Here's the feedback:

As a result of my complaint to Mr. Price Sport's management, I received a call on Monday 18th from a person who took control of the problem, apologised for the mistakes that had been made, and used the information I provided to follow up and rectify their online sales process - job well done! It seems that there were a combination of factors that caused Mr. Price Sport to drop the ball with my order, and the investigation into the process revealed that some of the slip-ups were patent, and that others were possibly more latent than initially presumed. Lesson learnt - better control achieved - transaction completed - customer satisfied.

For what it's worth; it was the practice of the early medical profession to subject interned doctors to a week of being a patient in their own institutions. This helped them to become more aware of their patients' plight and the treatment they were being subjected to whilst in their care - ultimately they became better doctors because of this experience. Accordingly; a good management team should make it a regular practice to come out from behind their impenetrable glass wall and take it in turn to experience what it's like to be a customer (or supplier) in their own business. In addition; the verbal assurances by a third party(s) vendor that the service(s) they are providing to your company "is fantastic" is often untested, and the net result of this is that the sales figures, credibility, brand and public image of the company are are being pulled through the proverbial mud - another serious problem that is usually only discovered by management after the fact.

To wrap it up - the items that I ordered for my wife were delivered to our house this morning and arrived in good order - thank you.
