Second hand products

I was doing some groceries today at Mall@Carnival and remembered my bathroom window needed blinds. I went to Mr price home and bought blinds. When I get home I discovered that the packaging has been stapled on both ends now I started observing the inside of the package without opening it and to my surprise there's what seems like a long thread around the blinds. Why does Mr price home have such things on their shelves? I paid full price but I'm getting second hands, why on earth? Why are they treating customers like that?
