NO SERVICE NORTHGATE MR PRICE

Yesterday, 22 April 2019, I was in your store at Northgate, at around 2pm.

After standing in a queue for 30 min to pay for 4 cushions, I finally get to the front (tellers) only to discover that the client in line before me, and the one before that (and who knows how many before them) left as your systems were down and they either had to pay with cash or NO SALE - Sorry!

So the guy (client) in front of me was buying a duvet for R2000 and was turned away as he didn't have that sort of cash on him (and could not pay by card), and the lady trying to pay next to me had a sale in EXCESS OF R10 000-00 (YES- TEN THOUSAND RAND), and could not pay with a credit or debit card. Your sales team there gave everyone the standard answer after ringing up their items "Eish, sorry, our system is down - you can only pay with cash". Now there are an endless number of things which could have or should have been done: 1) Close the store - or at a minimum inform patrons that they have to pay cash in store (and that there in no ATM in the centre), as the card facilities were available. 2) Don't let people stand in a queue at the till waiting for 30 minutes to pay, and only after ringing up the items telling them that they must pay cash. 3) Offer solutions!!!! - so if I was working at the store, I would have given the clients an alternative - like to pay by EFT - actually I suggested this but due to the lack of service oriented staff this was not possible - The amount of money I saw walk out of the door was shocking - if I worked there, I would have even got the client to EFT into my personal bank account, and then re-done the transaction and paid the money with my card once online - but I guess the types of staff you employ there, don't care about how much is written off as it is not their money, and their back pocket is not affected, so why should they care? That store wont see me again ! This sadly, is the sentiment shared with all your clients in the store at that time. WE WERE YOUR CUSTOMERS!
