Misleading Pricing – Overcharged by Nearly R100 on Mr D Order

I recently placed an order from Pedro’s via Mr D, and the total came to R295.96, including delivery. When the driver arrived, I was surprised to find a receipt from the restaurant attached to the order, showing the actual food cost was only R195.96.

Here’s the price breakdown from the store:

Full Chicken – R119.99

Optional Extra Basting – R2.99

Cheesy Fries – R32.99

4 Wings (BBQ Basting only) – R39.99

But on the Mr D app, the same items were listed as:

Full Chicken – R172.98

Optional Extra Basting – R2.99

Cheesy Fries – R42.99

4 Wings (BBQ Basting only) – R59.99

That's nearly R100 more just on food prices — and that’s before delivery fees. This raised serious concerns, so I contacted Pedro’s. They confirmed that Mr D handles all payments, and advised me to speak with them.

When I called Mr D, I was told that I “wasn’t supposed to receive the receipt” from the restaurant. That response was shocking. Why should customers be kept in the dark about the real cost of their meal?

It’s extremely disappointing to see such price inflation without any disclosure. This feels like daylight *******, and I can't help but feel that the so-called "convenience" is being used to justify ********* practices.

Where is the transparency and fairness? How can you tell a paying customer they shouldn’t know the real price of what they’ve ordered? That’s not just wrong—it’s deeply dishonest.

I’m very disappointed by this experience. I hope Mr D takes this feedback seriously and reconsiders their pricing and communication practices. Until then, I’ll be thinking twice before using the platform again.
