Assistant Manager offering no Customer Service
Mr Delivery had to deliver a parcel I ordered through Takealot. The driver was apparently at our house in the morning (once) and said no one was home. There were 3 people at home during the day. Everyone was expecting the parcel so they knew to look out for the parcel. We have 4 dogs so they would have barked, and we have a bell to ring at our back gate. I work long hours so when I phoned the missed call in the evening to follow up, Tracy, the Assistant Manager at the Newton Park Branch took my call. She said that she has no idea why it was not delivered if there was someone at home. She went on to say that the parcel was signed in/locked away and only the driver had access to it. I asked if I could come and it collect it from their offices, she said no, I must phone the call centre, as they do not allow customers to collect because customers are rude. She first said she is busy with stock take, later on in the conversation she changed the story and said she isn't busy with stock take. She kept on having to check with her staff regarding things eg if I was allowed to come and collect the item there. As an Assistant Manager, I would presume you should know the procedures and should not need to check with you staff on the processes. I found her to be rude, unhelpful and disrespectful. She said the manager, Lee-Anne, was on leave. When I asked what Lee-Anne's surname was she asked me why do I want to know. If this is a Mr Delivery Service then surely she should be able to deal with the public, know her place as Assistant Manager, and definitely not treat customers like that. In my opinion, it sounded like she has been working there for 2 weeks and does not portray any problem solving s****s of a manager. I contacted the call centre and was told that he would contact the branch and phone me back in 5 minutes to confirm if they are able to deliver the item today, Saturday, 01/09/2018. I received no phone call, only an sms saying it will be delivered on Monday. I distinctly told Tracy that I needed it to be delivered on Saturday 1 September. Reason for this is I now have to arrange that someone is at home again on Monday just because their driver didn't ring the bell or return a little later. This service received is unacceptable. I find that taking money for an item is one thing, but if a company chooses to associate themselves with a courier service that does not know how to exhibit customer service, then right there is a problem. Takealot will experience problems with Mr Delivery, if all they are interested in is delivering their food and not the items that are out for order. At the end of my conversation with Tracy last night she said she isn't busy with stock take she is busy with food, and during my whole conversation with her I felt as though I was inconveniencing her with my call. That is never how a customer should feel. Pathetic service
