VW TOUAREG repair - Disgusted, complete lack/attempt from dealer to accept any responsibility for their work.

<p>Huge oil leak with R 50 000 repair bill! Did you read my complaint about my VW Touareg gearbox breakdown after a sheduled gearbox service? Now for the cherry on top!</p> <p>After the ridiculously expensive gearbox replacement quoted at nearly R 200 000, I collected my vehicle from the dealership on the 14th December 2016, a day before I went on leave. My car was with the dealership for nearly 5 weeks for this repair. I went to work the next day (15th) and noticed a few drops of oil on the paving at my designated parking but accepted this to be "spills" from the gearbox replacement. I did however take a picture of this just to set my mind at ease, already had a bad experience with the dealership.</p> <p>Went on leave on the 16th, traveling about 700 km and stopped for brunch and also to fill up with diesel. What a shock! A huge spill of oil underneath my car, also saw dripping from "skid plate" at bottom of engine bay. But no info or warnings on computer of low oil level.</p> <p>Phoned and reported to dealer on first working day after this ( 19th Dec), who confirmed that I can drive but must check for computer messages. Just for the record, my vehicle did not have any oil leaking problems ever, except for 2 cases where the service by the same dealer was not up to standard and oil leaked at the sump plug ( last time I had to go back 3 times before this was sorted).</p> <p>With my return from holiday I took the vehicle in for the dealership to repair the oil leak, obviously according to me related to the work they did on my car. What a nasty surprise! A R 50 000 quote to repair this! Apparently the Touareg have 2 oil "sumps", one top and one bottom. The top one was leaking, there is no packing used on this, only "glued" together. And the dealers response why this is not their responsibility? "They did not work there when they replaced the gearbox, etc."</p> <p>Now remember, my vehicle had no problems with oil leaks ever. The car was at the dealership for nearly 4 weeks before they started wit the work on the gearbox, without al drop of oil leaking onto their workshop floor - also confirmed as such by the service adviser. Yet, the first day after I received my car back from the dealership, there's a serious oil leak on my car "but they did not work there". The repair bill for this will be for my account, not negotiable.</p> <p>I would love to know if all VW dealers are trained to deny any responsibility as a standard first rule even when all the facts speak for themselves! Saving money by not accepting responsibility definitely won't win my vote for them again.</p> <p>I can't see any pont in contacting VW SA on this again as I already know what their finding on this will be - they can't find any proof of wrongdoing on the dealers side, "my bad luck".</p> <p>I for one know what brand of car I won't buy in future!</p>
