Problematic VW Polo Vivo from Lindsaysaker Midrand
I purchased in January from one of the VW dealerships this year. The car started giving me problems during the lockdown, it had a malfunction which was indicated by an EPC light. I could not take it until the lockdown restrictions could be eased. Immediately after the restrictions were eased, The car was first booked in with one of their dealerships to fix the problem on 21 May 2020. The problem was said to be fixed but the same issue came back within a week or so, I had to go back the second time so they can have a look at the problem again. The problem was said to have been fixed the second time around, at the time, I had informed and expressed to the Sales Executive whom facilitated the whole purchase that I am no longer comfortable with driving the car and would like to return it for another one, especially because the car was not even a year old it has already started giving me problems. Their response to that was that I cannot return the car because the problem has been fixed and the problem is no longer there. They also assured me that the problem should not come back again.
The issue disappeared for a while until now in November, and I informed them that I am still experiencing the same issue and still echoed that I am not comfortable with the car and would like to return it and have them settle the car with my bank. To my surprise, they still want to fix the same problem still and replace the same things they had replaced before. They are now also changing their tune and telling me that the car is still under warranty and they can fix the problem. When I tell them that I no longer want the car, they are telling me that I will have to trade it in and have to deal with the short fall. I informed them that I am not happy with that because I am not happy and feel uncomfortable to drive the car and I want to return it on those grounds. So they are telling me that they cannot help me if I don't want them to fix the car or have me trade it in with a shortfall.
In a nutshell, they do not want to take back the car now because 6 months has lapsed since the date of Purchase which was on the 8th of January 2020. but I had reported the matter/issue the first time in May, which was within the 6 months which they insisted on fixing. Then now that the problem came back on the 8th of November 2020 and I took the car back again to them on the 9th informing them that I want to return the car and have them settle what I owe my bank, they refuse and insist on fixing the issue still. Now that they have fixed it, they have basically said that it has been fixed again and since it has been fixed again, they cannot take back the car. But I am not happy with the car because the same problem that was fixed before came back again and had to be fixed again, the same way it was fixed before. Without any consideration to me not wanting the car anymore.
