Lindsay Saker Welkom. False advertising and poor service!
Where to start... I purchased a Chevy Sonic RS from this branch in October 2020. This car was advertised on Cars.co.za as in good condition with full services history. Note there were no mentions of underlying issues.
When the car was delivered to my house and we handed it over. I took it out for a quick drive and noted some white smoke from the exhaust. The sales agent who delivered the car then came to light that the turbo had been redone and some work on the engine prior to selling it. I was informed this will go away with some driving.
After 2 weeks I reported back the smoking had become worse and the car was throwing out errors on the dash and losing power. After a month of back and forth, a Mechanic was sent and replaced the valve cover and stated there was a valve issue. I kept driving the car with symptoms getting worse. They then collected the car and granted me a loan car to commence with the work on the Chevy. Once I received the car back they had stated they did a full engine replacement and everything should be fine.
Barely a week after, lo and behold the car started leaking oil all over and the error lights were back accompanied by the smoke trail. I insisted they take the car back and offer me an alternative. This took a total of 4 months to get to this stage.
After another back and forth I found a car at their branch which we agreed on suited my needs. It was a 2017 Kia Rio, again advertised in good condition. They did some figures for me and then loaded the old car's price on top of that even though it was not as promised/advertised.
I am now sitting another 5 months later after constant back and forth with the dealership. I am still owed the spare key of this car. The car was sold with a shuddering clutch. After three months of taking ownership and me following up when will I receive the keys and the new number plates for Gauteng. They came back to me and said I need to find a testing station on my time and get the paperwork back to them as this was not done pre-sale.
I am now at the point where I will never encourage anyone to deal with this branch as their lack of drive and dishonesty is astounding. I was sold one car advertised as in good condition that turned out to be broken beyond repair. And a second car that even with paying On the road costs on my finance. Turned out, wasn't even safety tested or roadworthy when handed over to me.
This level of after-sales and even customer care is shocking, to say the least. Not even to mention that when the branch manager is contacted if you can even get ahold of him is not interested in assisting. I am astounded that a well-known dealer name in the industry like Lindsay Saker would allow things like this to happen at one of their branches.
