Appalling and shocking after sale service from VW Lindsay Saker Edenvale!!!!!
I received bad and discriminatory after sales service from VW Linday Saker Edenvale. After taking delivery of a new VW Polo from this dealership on the 20 September 2024 I experienced two major issues with the car, barely a week after taking delivery; the infotainment system developed a crack line from within and upon inspection I could determine that the crack was not on the top cover of the screen but in underneath the cover. This matter was reported to the dealership, but as soon as we reported the matter the salesperson Stanley Mampane turned on us and went on accusatory mode saying "the customer definitely hit the screen, which led to the crack". I was bemused by this behavior and as he had no empirical evidence to substantiate such a claim. I reported this matter to the dealer principal (telephonically) and he assured me that he will investigate the matter. Simultaneously we reported squeaky brakes on the same day and this sound was validated by one of the technicians after a test drive. Instead of assisting us with the problem the service Advisor by the name of Lenette Jansen retorted rudely on the phone saying that there is nothing they can do. When challenged by what she said, the tried to act nice but in the end the problem was not attended to. The dealership subjected us to a 'to and fro' in regard to the cracked screen and the brakes, the car was brought to the dealer to assess the screen and we were told that the matter will be referred to determine whether the warranty will cover the screen. We were then told that the screen had a chip from within and even when we protested with submissions that the damage could have been there already when we took delivery of the car- the people were hellbent and determined not to help us. I had a meeting with the dealer principal Mr. Claude Naidoo and Brandon Panaino where I complained about the screen matter and the brakes. Claude and had made up his mind and he was not listening to help but waiting to talk . At some stage he mentioned that he recorded my telephone complaint on the phone, but I was surprised by this submission as at no stage did he ask for permission to record our conversation. And why record me if you have nothing to defend. As a client I feel undermined and discriminated by this dealership. Their mid was made up and they will not help. But there are two aspects that the failed to look into as far as this unit is concerned: 1. I bought the car with a tracking device that was installed by the dealership as a package. The dealership is unable to honestly confirm what could have happened to during that installation or whether the screen was not touched or handled by the installing technician. They did not confirm to me during the sale as to when the installation took place or the outcome thereof. 2. The vehicle in question was a display unit, the dealership is unable to present beyond any doubt how the screen/ screen cover was affected during the display. What hurts me most is that Claude ended the meeting by saying "If you will excuse me I have someone from VW waiting because we are going around in circles" I was appalled and disgusted by this behavior and I got an impression that says you bought a problem, and it is yours to fix, now go away- I have more important stuff to take care of. And what a sad day, for such a big brand to treat people like this- I am beyond and beside myself with shock! ************** has many masks and this is one of them! Claude even challenged me to take the matter to the ombud if I wished to.
