Where is my refund MFC???
Almost four years ago I was one of the idiots that fell for the R699p/m car **** which MFC so gladly financed. The result is that I currently have to cough up over R4000 per month currently for a Ford Fiesta 1.4i Ambiente 2013 model with a big residue of over R50000 awaiting me in 2020. What can I say, I've been caught and have to pay dearly now for my error in judgement. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is. I had to learn that the hard way.
On 31 August 2017 I got another piece of fantastic news when I learned that I was being retrenched with immediate effect as a result of company closure. To top things off, I did not receive any retrenchment package, nor were my leave days paid out. In a rush I grabbed my paperwork of my car to make payment plans as my car is by for my biggest asset. I was very pleased, however, to come across some Regent paperwork for Credit Life Insurance which I was paying since I bought the car. I immediately phoned Regent to find out what the steps were to claim this Credit Life Insurance. I'll admit, this alone was already a tedious process as they required a whole lot of documentation (including a sworn affidavit at SAPS). However, within a week the documentation was sorted out and Regent phoned me to tell me all was in order and that they paid my next installment.
Shocked, I woke up on on 28 September 2017 with the usual SMS from ABSA that my MFC debit order went off. First thing I did, was to get in contact with Regent giving them a piece of my mind after they assured me that all was in order regarding the installment. They wasted no time sending me the proof of payment to MFC, so I phoned the customer care line of MFC to explain my situation. They told me that Regent's payment is reflecting on their system and instructed me to mail my query to ********** It is rather ironic email address as the service I received after this suggested the exact opposite. I was already frustrated and stressed out at this point as the debit order was money I really need in my account for my other deductions so I made it clear that this is a urgent matter that needs to be attended to ASAP. MFC waited a day to reply me just to request a proof of payment from Regent after they confirmed telephonically that the payment did indeed reflect. They also refused to accept blame as neither Regent, nor myself informed them about this arrangement. Since a single debit order goes off for the car every month (which includes the credit life insurance that MFC pays to Regent), it was my general assumption that the two entities would communicate in cases like these. I also questioned why no-one on MFC's side picked up the payment that came in and allocated it to my account? If any uncer*****y was present, I am only a phone call away as is Regent. Besides, I have a whole lot of other arrangements to make in the case of retrenchment. No blame shifting changes my situation, so to me it doesn't essentially matter who's at fault. MFC couldn't care less it seems to attend to the matter as soon as they can.
I told MFC directly as I would say here as well. I will never finance anything through MFC (or Nedbank for that matter) again and would strongly advise anyone to refrain from using them. My money is important enough for them every month, but when it comes to service delivery, they don't step up. How I wish I got the service I get from ABSA.
I'm waiting for my refund MFC.
