********* Conduct of MFC and Nedbank Recoveries.
I had a shortfall on a vehicle account with MFC after selling the vehicle with their authorization. This account was handed to Imbuyiso attorneys by Frans Mkowena of MFC and was handled by Gudrun Baartman on behalf of the attorneys. I requested a settlement in December 2015, as I was being retrenched from my employment and would be in a position to settle this with my provident fund pay out. I was given a settlement amount of approximately R 17500. I advised the attorney that I will settle as soon as I receive the pay out which was delayed due to internal complications at the organization. I however paid in R 18000 on 02/03/2016. I notified Gudren of this payment and only then did she advise me that this account had gone back to MFC. Nedbabk Retail Recoveries debited me for R 24507 on that very same day being the full outstanding balance on the account. It took many phone calls and emails which were absolutely stressful before I was reimbursed on 17/03/2016, 15 days later. At no time during this entire process, did I receive any communication from either MFC or Nedbank Retail Recoveries to advise me on the status of the account or that they were going to debit me for the balance. 1 of the NRR queries went in so as to say " we can debit your account at anytime if we see funds available".. When I was eventually reimbursed on the 17/03/2016, I was advised by the NRR supervisor that MFC will close the account, write of the balance and make contact with me for the notification there off. This however didn't happen. My account was debited again on 18/04/2016 by NRR for an amount of R 8385.41 with the same reference (VMFB9330), which was used for the previous debit of R24507, without any consultation, notification or authority. This is my bank account and my personal funds and this institution chooses to access it and take my funds whenever they see fit to. I contacted NRR again and was assisted by Narusha. I once again had to go through the process of sending all previous communications to her. On 29/04/2016, she advised me that MFC will close the account and write off the balance, and that a refund hard been requested. My personal banker, Leandra Coulbanis also got involved in the matter upon my request and did everything she could to assist. We were both given the run around, various people and departments. She was advised that this account had been closed on the 12th of April and I was given the same information by K. Mojela of MFC. However, my account was debited 6 days subsequent to this by NRR. Their response was that MFC hadn't advised them that the account was closed. It seems that these delays where caused by Frans Mkowena, who apparently is the person that gave the attorneys the intial settlement amount in December 2015 already . On 05/05/2016, I was advised by Nikita of NRR and her superior Anesu that I will be reimbursed by the close of business on that day. This however didn't materialize. I have still not been reimbursed. When one is late for payments, we are charged interest, but financial institutions Do Not repay with interest when they erroneously debit your accounts and keep the funds in their accounts for weeks on end. Why should this be acceptable?? This entire incident has resulted in endless pain and stressful calls to get reimbursed and I have still not had any success. I have also had my debit orders returned by Nedbank and been charged R130 a for each one. These debit orders include life insurnace, medical aid, and other vitally important payments. I acknowledged and paid a settlement on the account given to me in good faith and expect Nedbank to conduct themselves in an ethical and professional manner, which as not been the case in this matter. I am unemployed and the funds that these ruthless, inconsiderate and ********* people have taken out of my account is the money I have to keep a roof over my family"s head. I would appreciate it if this refunded and the vehicle account settled as I honoured my agreement made with the attorney. I am really disturbed and dissapointed by the unprofessional business conduct displayed by an institution that I bank with for several years. MFC's conduct is absolutely pathetic, ********* and inefficient.
