Threatened by debt collectors

I got a visit from 2 gentlemen this afternoon claiming to be from MFC to repossess my vehicle. I then asked for identity so that I can see that they are the sheriff of the court which they refused to show me. When I asked for a court order I was told that they are allowed to take the car without court order (which is *******). MFC is using debt collectors who threaten us especially if they see that you're a woman. Regardless of how indebted people are they shouldn' be taken advantage of. I can't just hand ovet the car to anyone without a valid court order and them not being the sheriff of the court.
