Request for Compassionate Consideration and Payment Arrangement
I am deeply disappointed with the treatment I have received as a client. This is my second vehicle financed through MFC,the first was paid in full without any default, and I have had this current vehicle for five years now. At the end of January, I suffered the devastating loss of my mother. As the sole breadwinner, I was responsible for all the funeral costs, which left me in significant debt and unable to meet my car instalment obligations. I reached out to MFC and made arrangements to pay the outstanding amount in three equal instalments. However, before the end of that month, my car broke down and required a steering wheel replacement, making it impossible for me to honour the payment commitment. As an African, I also had to bear the financial responsibility of the traditional cleansing ceremony that follows a funeral. Once those cultural obligations were fulfilled, I contacted MFC again with the intention of resuming payments reliably. I proposed to repay the outstanding balance in three instalments, starting this month, as I have now paid off the bulk of my debt. However, I was told that I must pay this month’s instalment plus 50% of the outstanding balance. Unfortunately, this demand will plunge me back into debt and hinder my ability to meet my financial responsibilities. It feels as though MFC is setting me up to fail, leading to repossession of the vehicle. This month, I can be able to pay my regular instalment as well as R7,500 toward the outstanding balance. I kindly ask that someone at MFC who understands the cultural and financial pressures associated with African funerary traditions step in to negotiate a more manageable arrangement on my behalf.I am committed to resolving this matter honourably, but I need your compassion and flexibility to do so without falling further behind.
