MFC Aggressive tactics for one late payment and treated like a ********

Due to the panic and preparations surrounding the lockdown for CoVid19 the transfer for the installment for my i20 was delayed and the 31 March 2020 debit order was returned due to insufficient funds. On 31 March 2020 I contacted MFC and notified them that the debit order was not successful and that I would need to do an EFT into the account. The consultant advised that it would be best to wait and receive an SMS stating the return of the debit order rather than arranging a refund for the double payment. On 2 April 2020 I received an SMS stating that the debit order was returned. I called MFC and I was given the banking details and proof of payment was sent to *** and in the email I mentioned that I had not used my account number as a reference and asked them to credit my account once the payment was reflected. I received an acknowledgement of the proof of payment. On the 7 April 2020 I received an SMS and email stating that I was in arrears with my account. The letter was a demand for payment. It further threatened me with regards to my credit rating, the assumption was made that I was in arrears. In the letter there were five options to make a payment - I was guilty - and nowhere in this letter did it refer to if a payment had been made and MFC apologise for the letter or to contact the call centre to rectify the situation. When I called MFC on 7 April 2020 to confirm that a payment was indeed made, they sent me an SMS as to where proof of payment could be sent to, I duly sent the POP to ***, as suggested. On the 9 April 2020 I went online to see the state of my account and noticed that my account was still in arrears. I again called the call centre and was informed that the payment I made went into a suspension account and that it will only reflect after 6 working days, with the holidays it will only reflect on the 21st April 2020 and will affect my credit rating. She confirmed that the MFC consultant failed to activate the payment for my account and failed to do so when the proof of payment was sent. It is unacceptable that I am being penalised for the incompetence and inefficiency of MFC and that clients get accused of being dishonest at the onset of a problem, without any investigation as to whether the client is indeed right or wrong. I believe that ‘the Customer is always right’, until it is proven that he/she isn’t and even in such cases we should not be treated in this way! I feel I was unfairly judged, and treated as a ********, even after I was diligent in contacting MFC and comp**** with the MFC consultants.
