First time financing a car and already regretting it

My name is Tshepo Moeketsi, and I am a first-time car finance client with MFC. I expected professionalism and support. Instead, I’ve had the worst experience imaginable. On 20 November, MFC debited the WRONG account, even though I provided correct details upfront. I panicked because of the potential impact on my credit score. I called on 21 November and was assured the error would be fixed and a debit would run on 22 November. It did. Then, on 25 November, I receive two contradictory messages: 1.My installment changed due to a repo rate decrease. 2.My account is in arrears by R0.01 and I must contact Samashan Subramoney. When I called, I was met with arrogance and condescension. I explained my concerns about my credit score, only to be told: “Yes, it will affect it, but that’s not why I called.” Instead, the focus was on me paying R0.01 immediately,as if that solves the bigger issue. I was told if I don’t agree to DebiCheck (which Discovery Bank does NOT have that function), my account will remain in arrears. The “solution”? Provide a different account,even though Discovery is my salary account. When I asked for a manager, I was told she was in a meeting. I called Bhavana directly,she was NOT in a meeting. If you are truly the manager, Bhavana, your handling of complaints is shocking. I was in tears explaining my situation, and your response was: “i will send it to the person who made the error to explain why they made the error.” That’s your idea of resolution? To top it off, when I asked if I was expected to pay R7+ to deposit R0.01, the answer was YES. Where is Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) in this? As a first-time finance client, this experience has been detrimental. If this is how the relationship starts, I dread the years ahead. I demand a proper resolution,NOT blame-shifting, NOT dismissiveness, and certainly NOT sarcasm. If this is not resolved immediately, I will escalate this to the Ombudsman for Banking Services and make this public across social media platforms. MFC, fix this now.

Day 2: Still No Accountability from MFC , Just “Finger Errors” and Empty Apologies

I am now on day 2 of my complaint with MFC, and the experience has been nothing short of shocking. Instead of receiving a call from a manager, as expected for a matter affecting my credit profile, MFC decided it was appropriate to send the same agent who made the 0.01 “finger error” to call me, apologize, and inform me that they will now be running a debit of 0.01.

I have never experienced such a horror of service—and I say that without exaggeration.

My concern remains unanswered: What is going to happen to my credit score?
According to MFC, this was merely a “finger error.” Somehow we are now expected to believe that a minor finger slip is enough to negatively affect a customer’s credit score, and yet no manager feels this requires escalation or proper accountability.

If a “finger error” can damage my credit standing, what does that say about MFC’s internal controls, oversight, and commitment to customer protection?

I am formally requesting immediate intervention from a manager or senior representative who can provide:

A written explanation of how this “finger error” occurred;

Confirmation of what corrective steps will be taken regarding my credit profile;

Assurance that this will not negatively affect my credit score in any way;

An outline of steps MFC will take to prevent this from happening to other customers.

I am still waiting for a real answer, from a real manager.
