Chocned Documentation Requirement

This is ridiculous. I am selling a car that I owned for the last 9 years. The buyer is buing through MFC and Chocned (Jan Opperman). I can understand that they want to make sure that the car is paid for before financing it. That much I have done. A letter from the dealer, as requested by Chocned ("Then please ask the dealership for a letter with the vehicle Vin and Engine numbers to confirm with your Names and ID number that the vehicle was fully paid for please."), did exactly that. And the registration document from the NATIS system is proof that the car belongs to me, for over 9 years already! I am all for security but in this case it gets ridiculous!

After supplying the said letter, I get an e-mail: "The dealership is not a bank approved dealer, thus we will need to trace the documents from the dealer backwards as well to the nearest financing bank or bank approved dealership." I have just spoken to the dealer where I bought the car from. They are indeed bank approved and own a “Private to Private” financing license through Absa bank. They ask a 5% fee to finance the deal.

I have since Googled Chocned and MFC and they don’t seem to have a good reputation. There are bad reviews about them on hellopeter.com. I have supp**** all the documents that they required and they keep requesting more.

I will be careful in using them. Rather enquire about alternative financing through another dealer with a "Private to Private" financing license. There are plenty others with good reputations and less hassles out there.
