On Jan 23 I received a call from Nthokozo "from MTN". This was the first lie, to keep me on the call. He said "MTN has loaded a new debit order on the system". He wanted to give me a contract for a laptop. He said "you will be paying less". I asked what he meant. No, he corrected himself, you will be paying more. Without warning and without me expressing interest, he handed the call to his line manager, Rachel, who revealed that they were actually calling from Mondo.

Rachael told me about the products. She **** about them. She said I would receive a laptop with a 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM and an i7 processor.

Today, Jan 25, I received a joke of a laptop: 128GB SSD, 4GB RAM, Celeron processor Mecer Move X360 – vastly different from what you said on the call. I'm not going to open the box. I can't use such a weak computer for my work. Rachel simply **** to me when I asked for the specifications of the laptop.

Rachel had said this was a 75% discount. Unlikely. The value of this touch screen device I received – not even a real laptop – is at most R4000. That's what I would be paying over 36 months.

She also said I would receive a school stationary voucher worth R40 000. Too good to be true. It's not in the box I received.

While on the call I tried to research the product but Mecer does not even advertise this product on their website, as it is a throw away item.

Mondo, this is day 1 of 10. I am exercising my right to cancel the contract as per the CPA.
