Passing the Buck & **** Promises

On the 13th of April 2016, my mother received her Huawei P8 Lite smartphone from Mondo, which was offered to her by a Telkom agent. The agent misled her, by asking her which colour phone she wanted and did not mention that there was a cost of R99, which was the delivery charge. Upon complaining on Hellopeter, we were contacted by someone from Mondo by the name of Kimona, who expressed to us that since the phone was on promotion, it was ONLY available in White, and that it was a mistake by the agent to not inform my mother of the R99 charge involved before the phone could be delivered to her. She also said that she will speak to her managers, to see if they can refund my mother for the R99, as well as her first month subscription of R149. A few days later Kimona got back to us, saying that she has gotten the go-ahead from her managers, and that once the money has been deducted from my mothers' account, it would then be creditted (refunded) back to her, so her first month would be free and she would start paying from May for her subscription. A few days later a total of R248 was debited back into my mothers' account, as Kimona had said. At this point my mother was now aware that she would only have to pay R149 come the end of May, because she was re-imbursed for the cost of April by Mondo, as a way of apologising for the misunderstanding with regards to the phone and the R99 charge. Today my mother received her itemised billing, and to both our surprise and shock, the total payable on the bill is R295.40. We called Telkom and the agent we spoke to, Happiness, told us that the bill was reflecting that amount, because Telkom had NOT received ANY payment from my mother for the month of April. I then proceeded to explain the situation to the agent, and what had been told to us by Kimona, and that we indeed did receive the money back and we knew that we would only pay R149 come the end of May. The agent then told us that Telkom has NO record of this ever happening, and on their system it shows my mother did NOT pay for April, so the itemised billing is reflecting the total amount due for April and May. This right here is a classic case of "passing the buck". First my mother was coaxed into taking the phone in the colour which she had originally not selected, then she was creditted back her money for April as a way of apologising for the misunderstanding, and then she is hit with a high bill at the end of the month. First Telkom employs inexperienced agents to market and sell their products by lieing too and misleading their clients, then Mondo gets its' representatives to contact their clients and come up with ever excuse possible to avoid responsibility whilst at the same time, ensuring the client still takes their product, whilst at the end of the month, it is these very same clients that are indirectly forced to pay these high bills in order to maintain their good credit rating. My mother is now left with a R300 bill to pay come the end of the month, and despite being a pensioner, in order to maintain her good credit record, she will have to pay this amount, to keep her contract out of arrears, meanwhile this is as a result of all the lies, misleading and **** promises from Mondo. If Mondo and Telkom are working together, where Telkom is the marketer, and Mondo is the service provider, how is it that Mondo does one thing yet Telkom has NO record of it?? I had said this in my first complaint, however I held back because my mother had finally gotten the phone and her money back, however it seems that "passing the buck" is how Mondo and Telkom operate, and now I will take my complaints directly to the Consumer Council, to prevent this from happening again. I honestly wonder how many aged and senior citizens Telkom and Mondo have taken advantage of in this way. It is such a shame that these two companies operate like this just to make money..utterly disappointed!!!!!!!
