New phone contract

I app**** for a new contract on 22 December 2020 and after making several queries i was told that mtn has no stock I patiently waited. I then called again yesterday to enquire why after over a month nothing was still happening I'm told they will contact the orders department, today i receive an sms that says that my credit check has been paused because of documents needed. Firstly the only documents I was told would be needed was upon delivery of the device. Secondly after calling again today I'm told the documents are needed for fica and they will again need to do vetting, which makes me wonder why was i told I'm approved back in December and my banking details needed if I'm still going to be vetted again? Also the lack of communication is frustrating because if i didn't call to enquire i would have still been waiting and in the dark.
