Pet Friendly Complex or is it really ?
I've Rented a "dog friendly" unit at Marandellas Complex, Rynfield for my daugter, but after 18 months it suddenly became a huge problem to a certain complainant who "could not take it anymore and they either do something about it or loose HER as a tenant". According to her the dog (mini pekinese) barks for 3 hours constantly (recorded but could not provide the recording), accused that there are two dogs (took video but could not provide).
There was explained that she only barks to the cleaner who comes on a Friday and the complex gardener who doesn't come on a specific day BUT ITS A DOG'S NATURE TO BARK WHEN IT FEELS THREATENED OR TO PROTECT ITS PROPERTY.
Then a "choice" was given by die body corporate that we either get rid of the dog OR give notice. After the 1st of 3 complains (which was done by the owner telephonic-ally) a "PENALTY" of R250 was given which was added to the monthly bill. Nothing stated in the rental contract that you will get penalized if not adhered to the rules.
I then requested a meeting with the Body Corporate Chairperson, the Complainant whose name was deleted from the email, the Owner to sort this out and I've also requested proof of the 3 hours barking and video taken of the two dogs. NO reply was even made or my request adhered to and I wonder why. Is it really a valid complain or are they just trying to get rid of the animal *****s to create a retirement village?
But a neighbor who has constant arguments with her boyfriend at 1 am in the morning and other days is not a problem. Two units down the owners are doing renovations after work until late and over weekends from 7am which is also apparently also fine. The electricity bill went from R620 a month to R960 and on requesting an explanation it was told that "during winter time the geysers uses more electricity to warm up". After given notice the electricity bill suddenly increased to R1699. One person uses the shower once a day and the stove once a day. No tumble dryer OR heater, so how did they get to THAT amount. Let me wonder why now, after OUR complains was addressed and that we feel offended by the unreasonable request.
How can they expect one to get rid of a pet who is so harmless and the only living creature who is like a kid in the house. Not once did the "complainant" had the decency to say she has an issue with the three times (dates stipulated in the complain) that the dog's bark? If pets was an issue to her, why did she move there in the first place. That's why there are complexes who are NOT pet friendly if you are a animal hater.
For the past 18 months there was adhered to the complex rules, one small pet only, payment of the rent and electricity was done by the 1st. Is she paying her rent/levy a different way or the fact that she is an animal hater makes her more acceptable to the Body Corporate?
What choice have you got as to find a complex who is genuinely pet friendly with prepaid electricity where you can see your consumption and not done the communal way.
