******* on investment

On January this year I opened a savings account with a broker from momentum by the name of Jeffery Webber. I was saving 2000 rand per month for my bonus. The money was deducted for the period of 10 months. But when I called today to make a notice for withdrawal I was told that I could only get R17300 because because my money was invested on the JSE and that is something I was told in the beginning . What I don't understand is how can 2000(10) = to 17300. Because the broker told me that I won't get any interest because in November my account will be less than a year which I was fine with but I want my 20000 that I have invested
