Retirement plan

I know there are laws governing these products, but what use is it for a 35+ years individual to wait till he is 55 to encash on a policy which is already not receiving monthly contributions and probably with a balance less than R10k? I just think your laws are a bit strict when it comes to cancellations and payouts out of these policies. As discussed with your *********** contact centre, im unemployed, you have held my monies for over 10 years and withouth any further monthly contributions from me, isnt that reason enough to just pay me out instead of holding me hostage for the next 25 years for such a small amount? I honestly cant believe such a big company could be so naive and narrow minded.

An email explaining the current legislation regarding retirement annuities has been sent to your email address.

As the current fund value of your retirement annuity is over the threshold, current legislation does not permit a cancellation of the policy.

The withdrawal exclusions mentioned above are not rules drawn up by Momentum, but resorts under legislation, governed by Acts that Momentum as a financial institution must abide by. Momentum does not have any discretion in this matter and cannot infringe on any of these laws.

Kind regards

Natasha
