Momentums policy towards blind people

Momentum's Policy towards Blind People

I am a blind sugar diabetic.I was diagnosed with
diabetes at the age of 6. I reside with my dad who is a retired pensioner.
My dad is my primary caretaker.

In 1993 I lost my right vision due to the diabetes. In 1998 I was shot in my lower back as a result of a stray bullet.I have a L5 back injury as a resolt of the gunshot. In 2013 I lost my left vision due to a detached retina futher complicated by the diabetes.

I am unemployed.
I was employed in the architectural field as an architectural technolologist. I receive a disability grant from the state. This grant does not cover my medical and living expenses.

Lastyear in December 2016 I contacted my broker regarding surrendring my Liberty investmentand my Momentum retirent annuity policies.
Ameeting was arranged at my dad's residence with my broker. All revelant claim forms were filled out and all relevant supportingdocuments from my doctors and my bank were delivered and collected by my dad.
All documents were handed in hand to broker at a second meeting at
my dad's residence.

My broker then proceeded with the claim process.
Liberty Life settlled all my claims within 2 weeks of claim date.

Momentum to date has not settled my claims as yet.My broker has been following up with Momentum as regards to my claims. In February 2017 the broker at Momentum Anna Marie Landman requested a letter from my ex-boss as proof that I was unemployed. This document was not requested by Momentum at onset of the claim process.

I obtained the relavent document and handed said document to my broker. Said document was e-mailed to Anna Marie Landman.

Anna Marie Landman told my broker that SARS had to clear these claims.I spoke to a tax consultant who informed me that SARSwould give clearance on my retirement annuities in a short period of time.

On Monday the 20th my tax consultant informed me that SARS had cleared my RA's that day after speaking to Anna Marie Landman.

On Wednesday the 22nd of March 2017 Anna Marie Landman informed me that my monies would be transferred into my bank account. On Thursday the 23rd of March 2017 my taxconsultant was informed by Anna Marie Landman that my transfers could not be processed because Momentum did not have my banking details on file.

This statement is false as my broker e-mailed said document at the onset of claim process. Furthermore Anna Marie Landman informed my tax consultant that i would only see my monies in a week's time in my account.

I had a meeting with the Johannesburg representative from the South African National Council for the Blind at my dad'sresidence.I discussed the detailsof my claim as stated above.

The SANCB representative conclusions were as follows:

1. Anna Marie Landman made false statements to my broker regarding required documentation.

2. Anna Marie Landman has purposely delayed payment into my account.

3. Anna Marie Landman is impeding with a blind person's income.

The fact remains that rationally it does not take 5 months to process a claim. My advice to all blind and visuallyimpaired people is as follows regarding Momentum:

If you
have any policies with Momentum do not try to claim as their brokers will delay your claims as long as it suits Momentum.

I am sorry to hear that your claim experience was an unfavourable one. I have referred your posting to our claims manager who will make urgent contact with you.

I refer to our telephone conversation earlier today.
The claims has been finalised and the amounts was paid into your bank account. The proceeds should reflect in your account within two hours.
I apologise for the service failure and the frustration this has caused you. This is not the kind of service that Momentum would like to provide to their clients.
