Momentum not honouring claim!!!!
I contacted Momentum and tried to claim, as my father had a policy with momentum that we were unaware of. My father passed away in 2020, we didn't even find out about the policy until recently.
Not only did Momentum not contact my mother or any of my siblings, which my father most definitely listed as beneficiaries, but there was not even an email to advise us.
According to your website you would've done so. Yet, nothing. The agent advised that they're not able to assist as the policy matured - but afterwards the agent said it was cancelled?? Yet we never received contact?? And, worst of all, they ask me to access my father's old work emails and then they'll send the policy documents through?! HE PASSED AWAY. I don't understand how they think it's possible to have access to this??
Is there an actual reason why Momentum is not willing to fulfill the claim? According to the ASISA website Momentum (which is a member of ASISA) will honour claims for YEARS after the event - in this case, death of my father. Yet, now suddenly, they're not??
How is it alright for Momentum to happily accept payments for YEARS and YEARS but then deny the claim when we come forward? Horrible!! If we knew Momentum would not honour a claim then I'm sure my father would've never trusted them to pay their fees or for their services.
We would like to assist you, but you will please have to provide us with the policyholder's information, as we need to revert to the relevant policy number in order to assess the matter accordingly.
Please provide your father's initials and surname, his identity number and if possible, the policy number.
We are sincerely sorry that you did not have a positive experience.
On receipt of the information that will assist us in tracing the correct policy number, we will provide you with the relevant information and feedback.
Kind regards
EdB
