Momentum Multiply / Virgin Active - membership loss
After having been a Momentum Multiply member for 8 yrs my wife and I cancelled it (Multiply and Virgin Active) today as it provides no benefit to us. With covid and at our age, returning to the gym is not an option and whilst Virgin Active allows their members to freeze their membership for an additional 2 months (at 20% of the normal monthly fee), this freeze has not been negotiated by Multiply for their members. We have not been to the gym since Lockdown started in Mar20 and appreciate that no Virgin membership fees were collected until end Oct20. Since then the fees (Virgin and Multiply) cost us cR6900 for Nov-Jan without having benefitted from it. We would have thought that Multiply would be interested in the health and well being of their members. We would want covid to be under control before returning and an additional extension of time would have assisted. It is really disappointing that you have not been able to negotiate the same benefit of freezing the membership for an additional 2 months until such time as the second covid wave dissipate. We would expect that Momentum Multiply as a collective should be able to wield greater bargaining power, which clearly is not the case. We are not in the habit of continuing to make payment for not utilising services. We are convinced that we are not the only Multiply members that has raised this and surely won't be the last as your membership numbers continue to dwindle and the business suffer as clearly illustrated in your published financials. Surely you could have negotiated a better deal. Once Covid is over we will consider joining Virgin/Planet Fitness directly or through Discovery.
