Metropolitan Odyssey critical illness claim
My policy with Metropolitan Odyssey started in 01/12/2009. My cover was for Death, Physical Impairment and Critical Illness. My Current premium is R 1415.14. I claimed for critical illness in 2015 for Parkinson disease. I was diagnosed in 2010 August. There requirement was that I needed to be totally dependant for a period of 365 days. I went for a DBS operation and I had to pay cost out of my own pocket of R 148 000. Because of the operation I can function again, but it came with a price. We take insurance to cover us for these medical costs, but still I have no benefit to pay back my loans incured for medical expenses. In 5 years time and need to replace the battery that will cost me R 165 000. My medical Aid only pays R 42 500. My Critical Illness Benefit says I am covered for Parkinson's om my critical illness benefit, but when it comes to claim stage they have all sorts of reasons not to pay the claim. My broker Anton De Wet at BI Brokers never reviewed my policy and I became an orphan client at Momentum Metropolitan Holdings. No one took the time after the merger to review my benefits . No one from the claims department took the time after my first claim in 2015 to assist in my claim. I am not happy with Metropolitan and the way they have handeled my claim.
