Gaining frustrations and not MOMENTUM

I have been employed in the Long Term Insurance Industry for over 40 years and have since retired.

During my tenure in the Industry I have experienced many highs and lows. However, in all my years I have never ever experienced such gross inefficiency, lack of knowledge, a don't care attitude, feeble excuses, apology after apology and the list goes on. This, from the personnel of one of the giants in the Industry - Momentum.

A friend of mine requested my assistence to resolve her ongoing disatisfaction with Momentum regarding a policy which had matured on 1 March 2023. The Policy in question is a Retirement Annuity, which in terms of the policy conditions had to be converted to a Compulsory Annuity on maturity date.

My friend had another Annuity with Momentum, this one being a Designer Annuity. Momentum insisted that the maturity value from the Compulsory Annuity had to be transferred to the Designer Annuity. I engaged with them on numerous occassions pointing out that this was not possible as the two Annuity products were structured very differently with different policy conditionjs. My sane rationale was dismissed, basically letting me know that as the "experts" they knew better, only to realize that thay has erred big time and had to reverse the whole process. After more than 4 months, Momentum are still sorting out the mess which they created in the first place, with one excuse after another as to why the delay in paying out the benefits. Excuses, which confound my retired brain. Excuses which are so child like that it literally sends shivers down my well advanced spine.

We received another email from Momentum on 5 June 2023 which literally leaves a grown old man wanting to picket outside Momentum's office in Sandon. Sadly, I am about 550 kilometers away, Momentum are still confusing both the Annuities. Heavenly Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do, this due to their ignorance.

Ms Jeanette Marais, whilst I applaud your appointment as the first female CEO of the Momentum / Metropolitan Group, I do not envy the huge task ahead of you in bringing sanity to this dysfunctional section of your business. Ms. Marais, I have no doubt in my mind that you will do your utmost to steer this floundering ship to "the force that keeps growing" . The italics are from the Collins English Dictionary pertaing to the definition of the word MOMENTUM.
