Don't join multiply it's a ****

Last year October I joined Momentum Multiply because I wanted to join Virgin Active Balfour Park. I thought if I joined Momentum Multiply I would save by using the discount. When I joined I was told 2 lies:

Firstly I was told that I would receive an 80% discount on the gym if I attended gym 13 times in the month. This is actually incorrect. Only once you have attended the gym 13 times in 3 consecutive months will the discount apply. Therefore for those 3 months you will be paying your multiply fee plus your gym fee which lands up being R570 instead of the normal gym fee of R450 or R350 depending on the plan you join. And then only if you have gone to gym 13 times in 3 consecutive months will you start to save. This means that if you get sick or are away, you are paying more for an additional 3 months.

Secondly I was told that if you go away, for example in December or if you have a baby and cannot attend gym, your gym contract can be put on hold for that month.

I had a baby in October. I phoned Momentum Multiply in September to put my gym contract on hold for October and November when I would not be able to attend the gym. On the phone call it was told that it was fine I just had to email through a doctors note. When I emailed through the note I was told that actually you cannot put your contract on hold and only a discount for the past 3 months would be app****. Unfortunately during my last trimester I had 2 bouts of terrible sinusitus and could not attend gym, therefore I was basically *****ed over.

Conveniently Momentum Multiply cannot find the voice recording of my conversation with them in September or when I joined last October eventhough it says the conversations are recorded. They have done nothing to help me. All they want is to sell you their product and take your money.

Please be warned so that you are not caught like I was. Discovery Vitality which my husband is on offers much more.
