On receipt of your personal details I was able to investigate the specific application for risk cover and your concerns.

Momentum utilised the information pertaining to your medical condition during our comprehensive underwriting process. Regrettably we were unable to accept your application for risk cover at the time.

Taking a decision to not accept an application for risk cover is a legitimate exercise of Momentum’s commercial discretion. The contract of insurance is, like any contract, based on consensus.  If the parties cannot agree there can be no contract and Momentum cannot be forced to provide risk cover if it is not prepared to do so, or on terms which it is not prepared to offer, after having assessed the risk.

I am truly sorry that you feel as if Momentum discriminated against your medical condition and wish to assure you that a comprehensive underwriting process is followed with each individual application. To the contrary, we requested that you reapply after a 12 month postponement period, after which we would reassess your application.

Kind regards
CK

So after our telephone conversation the bottom line is I'm BIPOLAR even though I was diagnosed 10 years ago. Now you say I can apply again in 12 months. WHAT WILL BE DIFFERENT IN A FEW MONTHS?
