Delay tactics

I wrote to Momentum to withdraw funds from a retirement annuity policy I no longer need. When I took out this policy the application was completed on the telephone. Now that I want to withdraw funds, Momentum claims that my signature has changed, and I need to verify it at the police station. I understand that this is a precautionary measure but this does not apply to me because they do not have any records of this signature that has changed. I just want my money end of story.

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention.

We are aware that signatures change over time however we have a duty to protect your interest and safeguard the policy from unauthorised dealings. This is not a Momentum rule but across all financial institutions.

We will therefore need the requirements as indicated in the email which was forwarded to you in terms of the signature.

I do apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Kind regards

Natasha

You do not understand my query Natasha. Do not respond for the sake of responding, read properly so you can provide something better than an automated response. My question is WHAT ARE COMPARING MY SIGNATURE TO, I NEVER GAVE YOU MY SIGNATURE WHEN I TOOK OUT THIS POLICY, SO WHY DO YOU SAY THAT MY SIGNATURE HAS CHANGED!!!!!

I take note of your feedback and my apologies for the oversight.

I agree that your policy was taken telephonically and therefore we are requesting specimen signatures from you to keep on record and to verify you as the investment owner.

Kind regards
Natasha
