Critical Illness Claim and Medical Aid

One star rating due to the precise on time debit order that gets deducted each month for the past 10 years, if not for that, it would have been a zero star rating.

The biggest issue is false advertising and when a valid claim gets issued, all is delayed with contradicting feedback including time baring of claims and *********** assessors.

Not to get into my finer details of my claim but if I knew what I knew today, I would have never taking any cover from Momentum!

Beware of the false advertising such as:

"WHAT IS CRITICAL ILLNESS COVER? as stated directly on the website - It helps pay for additional medical expenses and lifestyle adjustment" This is false even if you have a claim issued including all additional documentation from doctors and it still does not come to a point where any feedback is given. The only time you get a response is when they state they have certain working days evaluate the claim. As stated on the website, this cover is for financial protection should you fall Ill based on a selection of critical illnesses. This is nonsense as I have expenses of over R40 000.00 and I cannot finalize anything. The cover that is made out to assist you financially actually turns out to be a nightmare as one does not know how to proceed further due to financial constraints. Currently, I have been told stop all medication by my Doctors as everything I have tried made me extremely sick. I now have to wait for the mentioned claim to assist me financially to acquire medication that has been prescribed to me but that brings me to the following issue:

Chronic medication? make sure you understand all finer detail on the plan you have. Allot of medication does not fall under the selected list of chronic that gets paid by Momentum medical aid. This, I am sure, is similar to all medical aids and is understandable, however, if the medication they are willing to pay makes you even more ill then I don't agree with it. The same issues that I have with the critical illness cover is the same as with the Medical aid. Numerous correspondence from the doctors explaining the problems still don't get to a point where I can actually upgrade to a plan that will cover my expenses. Its been almost two months that Momentum has not informed me the plan that I will be required to go on including the additional cost that I will be required to pay on top of what they will pay towards the chronic medication.

This review is to warn others about what actually happens when you fall ill and you supposedly think you have cover. Fortunately, I have certain professionals that are assisting me with regards to finalizing the claims, however, I felt it was worth reviewing to assist someone that could fall into a trap that I have falling into. My only worry is that I am only 34 years old and due to my condition ill never be able to leave this company due to the risk that I am now.
