Covid/ epidural life cover

Policy number *** .I did a quotation with Mr Bikram for life cover for my wife and myself on the 4th June 2020 till today 29 July 2020 I have no cover. Through this disasterist process I've been told 2 days before my medical's that because I was tested positive I have to wait 3 months before I can take up life cover. Why didn't the broker tell me this when filling in his documents and doing the quotation. After doing my bloods they now require me to do an additional 9 tests. What did they do to my previous bloods taken? It seems as this company does not want to cover people who had covid 19. Also there is an exclusion on my wife's policy for her PLANNED EPIDURAL. Coz of mild back pain which was not diagnosed nor chronic medication is been taken. I hope all mothers and anesthesist can see that this procedure is dangerous according to Momentum and re look at their policies. I have all my risks with Momentum and 2 medical aids that I'm paying for. I will definitely be looking for better business elsewhere because in a situation like this I'm sure you guys will reject a claim in future if I ever have to claim.

Dear Mr Ramoudh,

Thank you for your Hellopeter posting. I am very sorry that you are unhappy about the new business process that we follow. Unfortunately we are unable to waive the requirements that our underwriters set.

In order to determine the risk that we are expected to cover and if we are prepared to take on the risk, our underwriters have the legal right to request additional tests based on the medical history that you have disclosed on the new business  application form.

If it is determined that a life insured has a pre-existing condition, our underwriters have the right to offer new terms under which they are willing to accept the business onto our books (hence a medical loading or exclusion can be app**** to the new terms offered).

This is an industry wide practice - any insurance company will underwrite a new application for life cover, and if they deem it necessary, may request additional tests and apply loading's or exclusions - this  practice is not exclusive to Momentum.

Kind regards

ND
