Consistent Technical Failures and Unacceptable Delays – Death Claim Still Not Paid

Complaint:

I am extremely disappointed by the continuous delays and poor handling of a death claim submitted to Momentum Corporate (FundsAtWork). Despite having submitted all the required documents months ago, the process has been plagued by repeated excuses and ongoing technical issues.

Initially, we were informed that the tax directive would be finalized by 13 June 2025. This did not happen. We were then told payments would be processed by 18 June – again, no action. Following up multiple times, I received another apology citing “technical issues” with their payment system, echoing the same language used in countless other complaints online.

What is most troubling is the clear pattern emerging from HelloPeter reviews: • Dozens of recent 1-star reviews cite “technical errors” or “payment system issues.” • Clients report months – even years – of waiting, with no resolution. • Claims, especially death and pension-related, are repeatedly delayed. • Promises made are not kept, with no accountability.

I personally requested call recordings from Momentum for the dates they made verbal assurances of payout. These promises have not been honored, causing financial distress and emotional strain on my family during an already difficult time.

Momentum’s lack of urgency, failure to deliver on committed deadlines, and repetitive excuses are completely unacceptable for a service provider entrusted with sensitive, life-impacting matters such as death claims.

Unless this matter is resolved with proof of payment and a final tax directive by the close of business on Monday, 23 June 2025, we will proceed with formal legal action and file a case with the Long-Term Insurance Ombudsman.

This is not just an incident – it is systemic failure. South Africans deserve better.
