Beware when cancelling Momentum!!

I became a member of Momentum Health many years ago and was offered to join Multiply in order to get gym discounts etc. I did this and it worked very well.
When moving to another medical aid in January 2015, I resigned from Momentum Health in November 2014 . Today I noticed that the premium for Multiply (R1387.00 pm) has still been taken from my account for the last 11 months. When I queried this they advised me that I needed to resign from Multiply as well!!
As I joined Multiply through Momentum, the reasonable assumption would be that cancellation of the main account would cancel the other as well.
Nobody ever advised me of this, so please be cautious when moving from Momentum!

Hello Hannelie B,

My sincere apologies for the confusion and anxiety you are experiencing as a result of the cancellation of the Health and Multiply policies

Unfortunately as one platform is administered under our Medical Aid division (Durban) and the other in our Life Policy division (Pretoria Head Office), the benefits are unfortunately not one and the same benefit and are not interlinked. The cancellation of your medical aid would not have triggered a cancellation of the Multiply benefit as this is a totally different policy administered under a different division to the Medical Aid on a different system.

The other reason why the Multiply policy would not have automatically terminated is because the Multiply policy also provides benefits on Myriad policies as well - therefore a cancellation of a medical aid cannot trigger a cancellation of the Multiply policy as this affects other policies that may be receiving benefits from the multiply policy.

I know that nothing I say to you now will make up for the inconvenience and unnecessary frustration experienced - I do understand that your multiply policy has been cancelled with effect from 1/11/2015.

Kind regards,

Nicolette D'Arch
