Avoid Momentum and remain sane

My husband passed away 3 months ago. His Discovery policy paid out within 2 weeks into the Estate as no beneficiary was specified. The same applies for Momentum. To date they have not paid out - it appears they are doing all in their power to worm their way out of having to pay. Questions they have what was his annual income. The premiums were paid timeously with no default ever. They want my banking account - what has that to do with them. The monies gets paid into the trust account of the executors. They want details of his ex wife who divorced him more than 30 years ago. Pray tell what does that have to do with them. Every week it is another novel of questions. They were quick to send me a letter stating his account was in arrears after he had passed. I spoke to a lady at the call centre and told her this was completely unacceptable. Oh it is an automated letter was her reply. I told her that was completely unacceptable. It shows a lack of empathy to the family that is trying to deal with the death of a loved one. Within a week of his death I received an e-mail that stated his monthly payment for a paid up retirement annuity was now null and void. There were no questions asked. However when it comes to paying out they drag their heels. I have a Momentum policy which I now will move to Discovery.
