Who is the boss

It is such a pity that Alexander Forbes gave their short term insurance to Momentum. Momentum SUCKS. They allow non-members to authorize procedures on your medical aid with non associated medical practitioners. As a primary member you do not have any say in your medical aid according to them. I will be changing my short term insurance and cancelling my medical aid by the end of the year. AR you made a real bad move.

Attached please find a copy of a Whatsapp chat that I had with a member of your staff, 2 weeks before a procedure was due to occur, regarding an authorization that was given and which my husband, as the main member, rejected due to the fact that the specialists and hospital are not associated as per our medical aid plan.
Unfortunately, as discussed with Annita per telephone call, the procedure went ahead despite the rejection by us. The specialists are now threatening us for payment.
Please advise as we do not believe that we are responsible for the doctors accounts as they are NOT associated per our plan.

Response
Please accept our sincere apology for the delay and any inconvenience caused with regards to your enquiry.
As per our telephonic conversations, your enquiry has been escalated and we received the following feedback:
· In order for member to avoid this from recurring, he should consult his lawyer and come to an agreement between himself and his ex-wife regarding the use of the medical aid.
· The principal member will be liable for the shortfalls incurred as we received consent from the legal guardian to proceed and benefits were available.
We sincerely apologise with regards to the agent not cancelling the authorisation on our side and can assure that the agent will be coached.
As an organisation we are fully committed to providing all our clients with exceptional service at all levels and at all times.
We have personally gone through your email in detail, which has also been referred to our quality assurance process, to ensure that there shall be no recurrence of similar incidents.
On behalf of the Scheme, we apologise for all the inconvenience caused. We would like to thank you for highlighting this, which will assist us to improve on areas of great concern.

A NON member authorized a procedure. You should protect your members before protecting doctors.
