Unprofessional assessment and communication.
Had an incessant with my vehicle regarding a poorly marked road that suddenly turned to gravel road over a slight hill while traveling @ 80km/h in a sports vehicle that has stiff and lower suspension from factory as standard (last speed limit board seen was 80km/h zone), feeling several knocks under the car while trying to stop. On the road back home I could feel something terrible was wrong with the car.
Submitted the claim with the location of the incident and a detailed report. Insurer advised me to get quotes for the damage. Panel beater advised me that they are not suspension specialists and I'll have to get the vehicle tested and then deliver that report to them to quote accordingly. They did however do a quick look and quoted on what they could see without jacking up the vehicle.
Original quote was for a Subframe and a control rod on a quick visual inspection.
After that was done the assessor known as Ross Assessors had taken a look at my car with clear instructions to contact me during the assessment as I was out doing call outs with a loan vehicle. The assessor claims he does not have time to phone all of his clients, displaying poor professionalism and a likelihood that the assessment will be poor and insufficient.
After delivering the detailed report after getting the vehicle tested at the nearest Dunlop Zone in Lorraine where the vehicle was lifted up and hands on testing was done, the damage is as follows: FR & FL wheel bearings grinding, FR & FL Tie Rods, FR FL RR RL Shock Absorbers popped and rattle as you drive, FR & FL Rack Ends and possibly more once those parts come off during the repair.
I did advise the insurer that the original quote might increase due to the vehicle not being properly tested in the first place.
(Dunlop Zone did not mention all these parts to try and attempt a repair to make a profit as they were aware that they cannot obtain the parts o needed anyway since all parts needed are dealership only parts)
After booking in my vehicle today I discover that the approved quote has been drastically altered by the assessor without notifying me in any way to the point where I'll only get a 1/4 repaired vehicle. They advised me that they will only contact me tomorrow with the reasons as to why they have chosen to remove most of the parts needed to repair my vehicle.
The assessor never lifted up the vehicle, the did not test anything, they only looked underneath. I have to keep contacting the insurer and the assessor to get information out of them.
The only party here that was professional is the panel beater the car is booked in at the moment.
Contacted Alexander Forbes PE and presented these issues since 9 am this morning. Hire car has not been reserved yet, got told by Duane Kriel that the person dealing with the claim (Nombuso Khumalo as per their communication after submitting the claim 2 weeks ago) will contact me soon and he will follow up with a phone call as well to ask if I was contacted by that person.
12:30 Pm and no feedback even though I've sent emails asking for feedback and have received read receipt that the mail was read.
