Unpaid Insurance Claim - A warning to all Momentum Short Term Insurnce customers!

My wife had a very expensive wedding ring. We tried to insure this ring with Momentum and after many, many months, were still unable to do so. Although Momentum agreed to insure the ring, we had to provide additional valuations which were incredibly difficut to obtain. It was later brought to our attention that Momentum had knowledge of exactly who could value this ring, but failed to discose to us.

Once we had the valuation in hand, we continiously called and emailed Momentum for a quote and to add this ring to our policy. All our efforts were in vein as Momentum simply did not respond.

Ultimately, the worst happened and the wedding ring was ****** from our home on the day we moved out of the property. We submitted the claim for the wedding ring to Momentum and after many weeks and their appointment of an investigator, we we received a letter to say that Momentum would not honour the claim because the ring ws not insured (specified) at the time of the theft.

Whilst we agree that the ring was not insured:

1. Momentum deliberately frustrated all our efforts to insure the ring

2. We have all risk cover up to R 15 000 for jewelery and mometum woul dnot even honour this insignificant value.

I therefore warn all customers and potential customers to what we believe are questionable actions by a big insurance company!

Thank you.

Please note my correction to the complaint above. I made the statement, "Whilst we agree that the ring was not insured:". This statement was a bona fide error. My meaning was that the ring was not specified in the policy, but was insured under all risk.
