Treated like a ********
On the 18th of December my camera gear was ****** out of my vehicle. Traumatized by the loss of all my gear and my digital storage with backups and all my media, I lodged a claim after a big hassle, hoping that it would be sorted soon as I was scheduled to leave in a couple of days with the focus of taking wildlife photos and night skies. The adviser, Chandre, told me that she would send me an email ASAP with everything they require from me for the claim. Two days went past without hearing anything from her. I left messages, sent emails and still had no response. Finally I phoned and requested to speak to someone else who then advised me what I should send to Chandre. Another couple of days past and no response, same story. Finally after causing a scene and complaining to management I received a call indicating that I should send quotes for the items. I did it asap. Again no response. After complaining yet again, leaving messages and sending email I finally received a call from Odette, an assessor. She was friendly and assured me that she wants the claim settled before the end of the year and that she wants to meet at the scene of where it happened. What I thought was a meeting to determine facts and help insurance with what they needed soon turned into an interrogation because the claim was made not long after I insured the items, as a lot of the gear was new. After that, I came up with ideas of how we could find footage as some of the gear was in a very unique back pack and would be clearly visible on the cameras. I was then assured that if they find footage of it being ****** they will surely settle the claim, no hassles. I was also told that by Friday the 29th I will have feedback. Friday came and went. No feedback. Tuesday I finally phoned. After a hassle I finally got a hold of odette. She told me good news. There was footage of the ********* where they took my stuff, took it to a car and left. They had two suspects, a number plate and the case seemed clear. But next I was told that I had been on the phone when I got out of the car and so was one of the suspects. So now I had become a suspect and my phone records was required. I found out that during that time I was on the phone with a call center and when I conveyed that I was told that my last hour's call history was required. I brought across my unhappiness and I was told that because the vehicle of the ********* drove in a couple of seconds after me they have no proof that they could jam my car. I could however think of a thousand possibilities of how they could if you just add one more person to the *******. I have no ******** records, no outstanding debt, I am a pastor, serve on the board of non profit companies, an active member in the community, a passionate Philanthropist and a director and shareholder in a very successful construction company. I have insurance to give me peace of mind and to know that if something happens my goods are covered but instead I have weeks of stress, hassles and a nice cherry of accusations on top. I am very displeased with the service I have received and angered at the bullying and accusations. Something needs to be done and after everything I've had to go through I am not sure if merely settling a claim is enough. As goods can be replaced but tearing down someone's integrity and accusing Transparent, law abiding citizens is not okay. I will comply and deliver all relevant and required documentation but in order for me to stay with momentum something will have to change.
