Refusal to settle claim in full
I change insurers by moving over to Momentum in September 2019, was very impressed with the onboarding service until I had a claim a month later, even though at the stage of logging the claim and calling for towing service it went all smooth sailing, my nightmare started when the car was being assessed for the damages and my integrity starting being questioned
Assessor called to establish what happened during the incident even though I have relayed the story to the agent at Momentum (I don't know whether they wanted to establish the consistency in my story or what) When I was done relaying my incident to the assessor I was told that his report will be completed to result in 2 claims, I asked him who's call is that to make his or Momentum, he said its all going to come down to his assessment
This is where the horror start, Momentum honored the claim and the car was sent to the panelbeaters and when they phoned me I went to go see them as I wasn't happy with the assessor's report and wanted to establish what exactly is being fixed because some damages that was incurred during the incident was noted as previous damages, got their and p/beaters pointed out which damages was going to be fixed, I got back on the phone with Momentum asking why some of the damages incurred during the incident wasn't being fixed, relaying my story for a 3rd time, matter was referred to manager whilst I was holding on and was thereafter assured that it will be taken care off, which it was. Upon collection of the car I enquired from the panel beaters whether the noise that I also reported to Momentum on the date of the incident was also taken care of and I was told it wasn't in the assessor's report and therefore it wasn't I drove off with my car and en-route I realised the noise was still there, which was the main reason why I called for towing service on the day of the incident, I got home, called Momentum and was told to take the car back even though the car isn't really in a driveable condition as I could just be manifesting the condition that it is in. Took the car back to p/beaters and after inspection I was told that it seems like my engine mountings was damaged but it was an assessment that could only be made by a mechanic and I phoned Momentum relayed the story I was told by panelbeater, they kept me on the line whilst checking in with the panelbeater and was told the mountings was damaged due to wear and tear This message was relayed by Momentum to the original assessors office and that's where I was left. The assessor who by the way never listed this noise that my engine was making or that he established the damaged mountings in his original report took the word of a panelbeater as gospel and the client who by the way has a contract with the insurance company is left in the cold because according to the assessor it's unlikely that the damage to the mountings could've incurred during the incident because of how and where it happened, I want to say until you've been there it's not your call to make, that's why certain accidents are labelled as freak accidents, as its unexplainable and bizarre as it was in my case.
In all honesty I feel cheated out of believing insurance companies will put you back in the state that you were prior to your accident, the noise the car makes now wasn't there before the incident and everyone is giving me the run around I'm ever sorry switching insurers coz maybe just maybe I wouldn't have received this type of service where the customer isn't being treated like they're trying to **** their insurer and this being my 1st accident claim after being insured for more than 15 years over various insurance companies
P. S Report from Service centre was submitted to Assessor via Momentum on status of engine mountings during servicing of vehicle 6 months ago.
