Property Claim

<p>Policy Number: ***</p> <p>On the Weekend of the 7th of May 2016, in Durban we had heavy railfull, and our roof leaked, we had various area's inside the house that leaked (kitchen/ Dinning room / study) my husband and i were going to repair the roof ourselves until someone said that it is covered by your insurance, i phoned Alexander Forbes and was told that it is covered that we can go ahead and get a quotation, which i did, i got three different contractors to give me a quotation, i sent through the one that i thought was correct as he was the only one that actually climbed up onto my roof, later on i sent alexander forbes all three quotations for them to see that i did get various contractors out, and that i did not just go for the most expensive claim, </p> <p> </p> <p>Alexander Frobes sent out an assesor (Trevor Guise-Brown, Cell phone number ***) who ran my house down and the area in which i say, my husband laid a complaint with alexander forbs but nothing has yet been done about it, we get a call saying that due to Trevor's report they will not be coming my claim, i asked to see that claim as it is my property , my insurance i have the right to see the report!</p> <p> </p> <p>let me tell you what he said (look at this area that you live in!, look at this house, is it yours? its so run down, look at this garden, look that that tatch roofing, this is disgusting) he then went on to state that after he sends his report on to alexander forbes they will not approve my claim, i mentioned to him that i spoke to my insurance lady and she said that it is covered, and he said the following (she doesnt know anything, she sits behind a desk and answers a phone) so therefore he is stating that Alexander forbes employee people that do not know what they are doing!</p> <p> </p> <p>just because this man, comes from a more upper class area (Kloof) does not give him the right to come into my home and talk like that, </p> <p> </p> <p>i have insurance for a reason, I have two properties, contents and two vehicles with alexander forbes, my parents have their stuff with alexander forbes for years, and i only ever say good things about alexander forbes and will recommend the insurance company any day, but after this i really take back.</p> <p> </p> <p>i put in a claim not about getting money out of the insurance company but to repair damage caused by the rain. and i told trevor that i do not want my entire roof repaired like (roof it) quoted, i am just wanted the areas where it is leaking and causing damage repaired, before more damage accures, i asked Trevor ifd he was going to climb up onto the roof and have a look, and he said no he does not need to as roof it said it all, (root it did not even climb up onto my roof) i though he was meant to be assessing, and actually getting onto the roof and having a look himself, i will be fixing my roof myself, but i am very disappointed with how this entire thing is being handled.</p> <p> </p> <p>I bought a house that was really run down, and spent thousands fixing the inside of the property up, i am proud of my achievments and where i have come with my home, he have only been living there since March 2016, and spend all free time on maintaining the garden, pool ect, i do not need to explain myself, i pay my insurance, and if you had to see the before and after pictures of my property you would see that it is far from run down.</p> <p> </p> <p>i do understand that it is not Alexander Forbes fault, but they are the ones that are makiing use of this man (trevor) to represent their company.</p> <p> </p> <p>i will be repairing my property roof myself, </p> <p> </p> <p>You can contact me on: ***</p>
