Policy cancelled without appropriate reason

I was referred to momentum insure by someone but upon taking up a policy, a year in, without claiming even once, my car(Toyota Hilux GD6) was considered a high risk and I was told that I am given a notice period because they can't insure my car anymore. Why cancel my policy a year in when you knew my car make and model when I was taking out the policy? They didn't even agree to write a formal letter so that I don't struggle taking out alternative insurance.
