Pathetic car insurance
Horrible insurance, stay far away, my car was damaged by hail on the 30th November 2025 and they are finding every excuse possible not to repair my car properly, the has been assessed 3 times by their service providers, twice by their sole assessment provider Net Assess and then by Marec. I did submit another quote/ assessment by the claims manager Elsie insisted on a diagnostics report so she appointed Marec.

30 Jan 2026, 08:41Hi Brenda
Please see below the nonsense your Momentum managers are sending me, please note that Momentum insured my BMW X5 and as such have been taking a premium amount every month. Just fix my car as it was before the hail damage, it's been 2 months of this nonsense.
Good day
Please note we are in receipt of 3rd assessment report, the findings are as follows :
• The vehicle is black (base coat/clear coat) which causes the vehicle to absorb significantly more heat when exposed to the sun and also retaining the heat for longer periods.
• The vehicle has extensive UV damage to the bonnet, both front head lamps and both front fenders. The body components have been repainted in the past and the clear coat utilised is inferior and NOT UV stable. This causes the vehicle to display yellow overtones on the front components. (Bonnet & both front fenders) Headlamp lenses severely UV damaged.
• We removed both front fender indicators with the insured present. We showed him that the glue that holds the plastic indicator lens to the casing has deteriorated due to UV and heat exposure. As such the moisture in the air (high humidity during and after rain) condenses on the inside of the lens/es. This is a common problem on these specific vehicles that is well documented.
• We then removed the access panel of the Right Rear inner tail lamp (mounted on tailgate). Upon removing this access panel, we noted the bulb holder was not fitted correctly and was hanging loose inside the tailgate, as such the inner tail lamp is “open” to moisture ingress when the humidity is high. This then also leads to condensation build-up when exposed to UV/heat.
• The sunroof inner cover has delaminated from the base due to the glue used to secure the foam backed cloth having deteriorated over the lifetime of the vehicle from being exposed to heat. This has caused the cloth to sag. This is NOT due to moisture ingress as alleged.(see bullet point 1 above)
The sunroof inner cover (sunshade) on the BMW E70 X5 (2007–2013) is constructed primarily of a lightweight, rigid, foam-backed panel covered in a cloth material that matches the interior headliner, typically a form of velour or microfiber.
• Outer Material: The visible material is a soft, foam-backed fabric—often described as parchment velour, Anthracite cloth, or Alcantara-like material depending on the specific interior trim package (e.g., Anthracite for black headliners, Beige for light interiors).
• Structure: The fabric is glued onto a rigid, sliding, foam-backed, or plastic-reinforced frame that sits just below the glass.
• Colours: Common colour options for the E70 include Anthracite (dark grey/black) and Beige (Sand/Parchment).
• Repair/Reupholstery: Because the foam backing degrades over time (causing sagging), the material is often replaced with new headliner foam-backed cloth, often specified as 3.175 mm foam-backed material – gradually operating
Conclusion:
The hail damage to the vehicle is negligible and can be repaired utilizing PDR (Paintless dent removal) techniques. The components that the insured noted as having been damaged in the incident claimed for have reached the end of their serviceable life. The tail lamp needs to be correctly mounted and globe holder secured. Not related to incident claimed for.
Based on the above, the assessment remains unchanged.
