NO PAY FOR CLUTCH BURNT OUT DUE TO TYRE BURSTS

On the 8th August 2016 I was driving on the R300 going home from Kuils River at about 7.45pm going towards Vanguard Drive , with my daughter in law and grandson of 17months in the car .After Mandalay there is no street lights and its a very dark stretch of road , until the robot that lead into Vanguard Drive. Driving onto the Stock Road bridge my car hit an object and both my tyres burst on the right hand side - I struggled to maintain control of the wheel and my daughter in law asked me please not to stop at that point - I did everything in my power not to stop and tried to change gears as my car slowed down , but the gears was stuck and wouldnt move , heard a whining noise ,which I realised afterwards was the clutch.I then basically willed my car further down that dark ,dangerous road till about a kilometre from the robot , where my car eventually died - clutch burnt out and car would not start .We phoned the emergency numbers three times for the police to come and assist , but alas they never did, You cannot imagine the stress , fear and praying for safety that we did in that car. I phoned Momentum emergeny services and was promised a flatbed towtruck soon as possible - they arrived at 9.30pm .Very nice towtruck personnel eventually stopped and waited with us for the insurance tow truck as they told us the unlighted stretch is very dangerous .Including my car , 10 vehicles was damaged by that drain placed in the middle of that dark road by ********* who ****** drivers of vehicles. On 10 August 2016 I lodged claim - claim for the tyres and suspension was authorised , but not the clutch.

According to the specialists that Momentum assessors called in to assess clutch - "could be burnt out due to wear and tear but not due to accident".

Now my problem - there was nothing wrong with my clutch or any other mechanical part on my vehicle until I hit that drain - but after complaining to the claims manager well ,they still maintain that the clutch is damaged by accident - after I explained that felt the gears was stuck because I could not change when I needed to.My only thought that night was to get away from a dangerous situation and for the life of me. I CANNOT UNDERSTAND HOW THE BURNT OUT CLUTCH IS NOT RELATED TO THE "ACCIDENT" - BEFORE THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY GEARS OR CLUTCH.I AM NOT A MECHANIC , BUT BELIEVE THAT THE IMPACT OF MY CAR WHEELS DRIVING INTO THE DRAIN IMPACTED ON THE GEARBOX AND GEARS GOT STUCK AND SUBSEQUENTLY CLUTCH BURNT OUT.

I AM VERY UNHAPPY ABOUT THIS
