Momentum Claims Not Paid

Where to begin... During the storm 12 April 2024 that also impacted Stellenbosch where we experienced winds of up to 135km/h, our home's boundary wall built with bricks about +-30years ago fell over. This created a huge security risk as the house was now exposed to ******** elements. Momentum was great as they supp**** security for the night, but during the day there was none which left the house exposed. Momentum's Assessors from Digicall Group were sent to the site and reported back that the wall was not built to standard and they would not be fixing it. They will however make a payout of R6700 which they did and we need to fix it ourselves, after long calls with Momentum saying we are not accepting this as we have been a client for more than 30 years, and we need to understand what was the standard 30 years ago when the wall was built. Momentum still made the payout and left it up to us to resolve. We did not know where to go and search for builders via Google, got quotations to fix the broken section of the wall, Quote 1: R11900 Quote 2: R14000 We then decided to go with quote 1 and fixed the wall using the R6700 from momentum and the rest out of our pocket. Now it is a battle to get the rest of the money from Momentum, back-and-forth emails have yielded zero results. I guess our next step is to report this to the ombudsman as this is not fair treatment.
