Cancellation on my policy without sufficient notice

I just received a call from my broker to notify me that my momentum car insurance policy is going to be cancelled or I might experience a very high increase on my current monthly premium. What I want to know is why am I only being notified by momentum only when I call them to inquire about this ? why have momentum been quiet all along ?? The lady who I just spoke to in the retention department told me, should I want to stay with momentum I would need to call the sales department to get a quote and take out new policy, which I know will probably be more expensive than what I am currently paying. The lady further said that this issue has got nothing to do with the clients and that this is between the insurer and the broker when I asked why these changes are happening, why should the client suffer if the insurer and broker are having issues ?? And if I do not cancel my policy, why have I not being notified on how much increase will be implemented on my policy so that I can see if I will be able to adjust my budget
