I have car and household insurance with alexander forbes. on 26 april 2019 i was involved in a motor vehicle accident and my vehicle was written off. the same day was the 1st day that my premium for the 2 cars that I have added to my policy went off. Prior to that accident only 1 car and household were covered. my claim was paid husstle free. I then received a call from one consultant Ivan who advised that an edor*****t was added to my policy the reason being that they paid more that they received for the car. i had a lot of questions but they were not properly explained. last month my son got involved in an accident. we were charged a normal excess as he is the main driver additional excess of R4000.00 because of the endor*****t and additional R2000.00 because the accident happened between 12 - 5 am. when i aksked for the reason i was told that it is because a lot of accidents happen at that time and whether it was proven or not it is assumed that the driver was under the influence of liqour. even after advising that he was from work as he works shifts. the manager after promisig to review the excess phoned me back to say that they will review the excess later after i sent them the email advising them of my sons shifts but we still need to pay the excess of R10278.48. my main issue with alexander forbes is that they are not prepared to acknowledge that 2 cars that my husband and son drive have never been involved in accidents before and both of them never claimed before but they are affected by the endor*****t that was added because of the accidenti had early in the year. no proper explanation and acknowldgement of the track record they both have. this i feel is ****************. i used to hold them with such high esteem until now. these are some of the reasons people cancel insurance policies because of insurance companies like alexander forbes
