Zero Humanity, Incompetence of note

Nompumelelo Khanyile from Momentum health dealt poorly with my case and all of the individuals along a chain of emails and calls from me to Momentum from the time of claim submission.

On the 19th February I was hospitalized in Bali and upon arrival back to South Africa Momentum refused to pay my claim as a in hospital benefit but rather out of my savings which had been inadequate due to the high cost of the hospital admission and treatment.

I had submitted the documents from the Dr on call stating I had a fever of 39.5 and required hospitalization yet Momentum's *********** staff requested a motivation letter as to why I did not for authorization during this international medical emergency.

I am disappointed at the fact that I needed to provide a motivation letter during a medical emergency in another country. If they took time to read the Dr's letter I attached documenting that I had a fever of 39.5 C in the range requiring urgent medical attention. A very high fever can cause confusion and the additional symptoms that I experienced at the time included: sweating, chills, severe headache, muscle and joint pain. The only option during this time was to get emergency medical treatment for which I was hospitalized for 8hours while tests were being conducted to determine how to treat my condition. Due to the condition I had been in how was I to contact the medical aid before seeking emergency treatment.

It is sad to see that momentum has no empathy as to the seriousness of my condition especially due to the Corona virus on the rise you would expect your medical aid to support you in times of crisis and emergencies.

It is with regret that I am considering changing my entire portfolio with Momentum following this instance due to poor service as Momentum failed to provide me with supportive health care while being hospitalized for a bacterial infection in Bali.

If you are not helping patients during crisis situations but expecting a phone call for authorization then you have failed on your values and ethics to serve.

Also this poor, inadequate response from Nompumelelo 'We hereby confirm that the account will not be covered by the Scheme as only members who have tested positive for the virus will be covered.' Indicates Momentum did not bother to read the Dr's letter stating my bacterial infection diagnosis, I simply made reference to the Corona virus epidemic in my motivation letter. The response received indicates that Momentum had been either *********** in dealing with my case or had no intention to pay for the hospital costs even after motivating as required with supporting medical documentation.
